"How the hell is this legal"?????. I would edit this to fit your need's and send this to your local paper,It just might drive sale's,BTW here's more, Until last year, Blue Rhino and Amerigas, two major suppliers, put 17 to 18 pounds of propane in each 20-pound tank. <Tanks should not be filled completely for safety reasons>. now that statment is pure "BS",it's still at 80 % of capacity, and About a year ago, SEE THIS, <that amount was cut to 15 pounds to save consumers a price hike>, Blue Rhino spokesman Chris Hartley said, excuse me,when you cut 5 #'s out of the 20 # fill up and charge the full amt,"that is a price hike", John @ Starke.

You're right, I checked into that exchange deal some years back and full tank or not, price-wise it's a ripoff. I always get my tanks filled (20 years) direct from a propane dealer. You can stand there and watch the meter and know just what you're paying for. Comparing prices, the KOAs rip you pretty bad too.
Yep. I saw this a couple of weeks ago. About to cook some HOT wangs one lazy Sunday afternoon, and every single 20 lb bottle I own was empty/near empty. Rats...It's Sunday, can't get them filled today. Oh well off to the local market. I'll have to trade one of my good looking well maintained bottles for one of their beaters. Young fellow unlocked the rack and handed me one. It felt funny. I said this one isn't full. He looked kinda funny at me, then handed me another. It felt the same, so I figured it was me. Couple hours later I'm sitting on the patio cooking the wings, and just happen to read the bottle and it said net wt. 18Lbs!! I said WTH? Same price, and never a word said about them being partially filled! What can you do. Plus now I own one beat up old leaky bottle.

It's threads like these that remind me why I have so many bottles in the back yard, 3 for the bbq's and a 30# for the "camp chef" besides the two 20# in the 5er. I have allways filled mine from the local propane man. I know I will be stuck buying propane on the road when we go, but I normally look for the vendors at the fuel stations, a tad cheaper than the KOA's...and YES I stand there and watch the meter too. The boss says I have "no excuse" for running out.

This has happened with other items for many years. Remember 1 lb cans of freon. Then they went to 15 oz, then 14 oz, now they are 12 oz. When was the last time you bought a pound of coffee?

Yeah but the container was smaller, so you knew what was going on. These turds are putting 18lbs in a 20 lb bottle, and not many people are noticing.

Some years back, Coors came out with a 10 oz can because Colorado(IIRC) would not let them raise the "price per can". Looked like a tallboy from a distance, but when you grabbed it you knew something was amiss!

That's not always true. I've purchased freon that had different quanties in the same size can. In fact I think I still have some. Go to your local auto parts store and start looking at the aerosol chemicals. It's easy to find a larger can of some product that has less content. I've even seen companies offer a larger promo size can then keep using the same size promo can and reduce the contents back to normal or maybe go back to the standard can and reduce it's quantity after the promo is over. Quietly reducing net contents has been a common practice with retail items for years.

I mistakenly bought a 12 pack of Bud Light or Miller Light in Lousianna a couple of years ago. My brother thought it was funny. On the other hand they are kinda nice when your outside on a hot day as they go quicker and don't have as much chance to get warm as the 12oz cans.
