Question Stock market still dropping

Just curious if your taking a loss (share value) each day due to market drop..what/if anything are you doing to cut your loss?

I keep telling myself "it's all on paper...if you don't sell anything you don't really lose anything".

I know for sure that if I sell the market will go back up the next day...maybe I should do that to get the economy back on track?

On a positive note, we don't live in Bangladesh and I doubt if either of us has missed lunch this week.

I believe now is the time to invest in stocks that will be able to weather a recession and come out up when our economy recovers. Buy low/ sell high.

Yup...but which ones?

GM has dropped from a high of $94 to $4.75
Ford from $40 to $2.00

My crystal ball has been pretty cloudy lately........

GM is a big player in china. they'll come back. our society just has to go through an evolution, and then we'll see GM, and FORD come back.

I'm investing in pinksheet alternative energy, and oil.

I hope it takes a little while to start rebounding, because next spring I'll be able to dump money in to uranium.

There are also some financials that will be ok.

AIG should weather the storm. Their stock is cheap. I'll bet they will be very valuable in the next decade. The Feds may end up prosecuting some of their executives, but the company has been given the golden ticket.

FannyMae is government backed, and they should pull through it alright.

No matter what you do, don't panic, and sell what you already have. Thats how you loose your ass. Just don't think about it for right now. It'll be alright. It may take 5-10 years, but it'll be alright.

all of my stock has dumped, but I feel good about it, because the next administration will go after alternative energies, McCain will drill, and if oboma makes it, then he'll roll over, and drill...

I'm trying to gobble up that cheap stock. just watching a couple to drop further. If it falls after that, I'll be ok, the economy will reset its self.

The dollar will no longer exist as a currency after this.

Globalization has been exposed for the joke that it is.

The government has burned up the credit supply giving money to speculators that could otherwise be used to keep the things going that society really needs to function.

And, reading the writing on the wall, I sold sold sold about 3 months ago!

I like to look at history to try to predict the future. So I did a search on what stocks did well during the Great Depression.

I think that the main problem with most people is that they are living way beyond there income. Credit has been way to easy to get along with being able to buy way too much house for your income. I have a friend that doesn't want to buy a home because all he can afford is the two bedroom starter home that you can afford on your income. He doesn't understand that you buy that one first and then a few years down the road you upgrade. These mortgage guys that sell you that the interest only loan, or the ARM to get you into a home that is twice the size that you need are the ones that should be sent packing.
I just retired last May at the age of 55 debt free. It took a lot of hard work and I set the goal when I was in my 20's and did it. I did without a lot of things that the others were buying but it didn't kill me. I got involved with my investments and weathered the bad of the 80's, 90's, and some here in the 2000's. Now I can sit back and watch. I do worry a little but I found out a long time ago to worry about what you can change and then change it, and not to worry about what you can not change.

VERY WELL SAID!! I agree that most americans have lived beyond thier means for a long time. It's too easy to buy, buy, buy on "easy payment" plans. Now it's time to PAY THE PIPER.. I will disagree with the argument that the lenders need to be sent packing.. Nobody said you (general) HAD to sign, there is a DISCLOSURE page that will tell you what you are signing up for..If you didn't read it and knew what could happen then shame on you!! anyway I am done ranting..How's retirement? I'm two weeks away from it, NOT debt free but able to breathe
