Allison Tranny Torque converter NSBU connection?

I recently had work done on my F650 transmission. The Torque converter seal went. When the truck came back we logged 111 miles until the Range Inhibitor light came on. The shop is saying that the NSBU needed replacing. I'm wondering if it needed replacing because of the Torque converter. From what I can tell our NSBU was the type without a shield.

Re: Allison Tranny Torque converter NSBU connection?

Though you don't state, I am guessing this has to be a 1000/2000/2400 because it is the only current model that still has a NSBU, and it just makes sense. In any case, the NSBU is on the shift shaft that goes in the driver's side of the case about half way back so it has nothing to do with the TC seal. That is unless they somehow screwed it up when they removed the transmission which is possible. Maybe it just needs readjusting?
