Need help w/ 95 model F450 parking brake

Hi to all,

I just bought the above truck with a bad parking brake unit (bolts to the back of the transmission.) I wrote on the LT page, but no luck. Hopefully someone on this page will know what I'm talking about.

The truck has a ZF- 5 speed in it, and I recently bought a parking brake unit from ebay. The Ford house has told me to run Mercron V in it, but I can only get less than a pint of fluid in it. Is this all it holds? No wonder these things go out! Also, I notice that there's no drain plug- how do you drain the old oil? Would it hurt to overfill it; seeing as how it's got a breather on the top of the casing?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I think it hold 4oz. I wouldn't overfill it, there's only a bearing to lubricate.

Yes, that's all it holds. Do drain it, I guess turn it over while unbolted. It is imperative to check for leaks at every oil change because there is not much to loose before it runs dry.
