For the stock 7" wide wheels the 255/85/16 is the tallest tire rated for that rim width. I know plenty have run 285/75's which are the same height. I don't want to talk about that, but I would really like to hear from anyone who has ran 255's. There are only about 12 mfg's of this size. I am more interested in an AT than MT. A couple of tires that have come up recently are Laramie Trailcutters which seem like a 3 rd rate brand and Maxxis who have 3 choices in this size. This is a popular tire in the Land Rover crowd and seems to be popular in Australia on expedition vehicles. But some realworld experince on our heavy trucks would be nice to hear about.

I have been running these for about 5 years now. What exactly is the information you are looking for? Be Carefull with sizes. The trail cutters I had were only about 32 inches in dia versus the 33 of others out there.
I had a set of the 255/85r16's on my 02' F350. I loved those tires, don't let the D rating bother you. The weight rating on them is only like 40lbs less per tire the the E rated 235/85R16's. I don't believe they are made in an E rated tire. My next new set of rubber will be the 255/85R16's again. They towed just fine for me, and handled nicely. No rubbing either, you get the benefit of a 33-34" tire without the worry of even coming close to the bumper corners or fenders. Mine were AT's, and they were coopers.
