BFG-All Terrains TA worth the money over Rugged Trail AT?
I'm close to having to replace the stock tires on my 350 (truck in sig), BFG rugged trail all terrains. I can't say that I'm unhappy with them, they have 50000 miles on them and could probably go another 10. Still have more than 7/32's tread left. Its close to time for bad weather though and I will run those 10000 miles before spring gets here, so I'm thinking I better pick something.
I put 25000 on the truck last year, and will probably do the same or more this year. I work in construction, do some part time farming, and haul horses around trail riding. The truck is not a dedicated wheeler by any means, but it definitely sees dirt on top of all the highway miles. Also has to handle snow.
I only got stuck once with the stock tires and I had 40 bales of hay in the bed and got into soft ground and sank to the axles. It did seem like I had to use 4wd drive a lot more last winter than I did when the tires were new, and I definitely avoid mud in the shape they're in now.
Is it worth going to the all terrain TA's? Will they give better traction without sacrificing too much wear or fuel mileage? They appear to run about $60 more per tire, don't want to spend the money if I'll get the exact same performance or they'll only last a year.

I put the ATKO's on the rear this last time and they do have quite a bit better off road traction, tow well, ride well etc...But,,,...,,,They don't last NEAR as long as the rugged trails. I too got 60K on two sets of rugged trails but these KO's look like they're gonna give me 30-40. Good tire, just not very much rubber on the ground.

Do you get snow? TA's were the worst snow tire I've ever owned, let me clarify that, worst truck all terrain , in snow.
All around performance I thought was nothing special.
Snow is rarely significant around here. Usually get an inch or two at a time, hardly ever accumulate more than 6". Last year we did have a big storm and were under a level II snow emergency for 2 days. I drove 35 miles to work both days and never saw pavement. I had to keep it in 4 wheel drive, but it tracked straight and stopped ok with the rugged trails on it.
Any other tires I might look at before just buying another set of rugged trails?
