Feels like rear axle is going to fall off when hitting bumps

I have been chasing this problem for a few months now. Many times when I hit a bump driving down the road (ie railroad tracks) it seems like the rear of my truck will bounce around and feel as if the axle and tires are going to jeark out from under the truck. I just wasnt able to find anything loose or wrong like a broken leaf spring or mount etc. Well yesterday I found the rear sway bar is very loose in the bushings. I can slide the bar sideways with ease. Not lots of up and down or in and out, but lots of sideways movement. Could this be the cause of my loose rear feeling. The rear of the truck seems to have a chatter when I hit some bumps. 2nd question. I had the u joints and carrier assembly replaced a few months ago. After the change, I found the u joint has just a small amount of back and forth play, very little, but it is there, is that a problem or normal to have just a very small amount of side to side movement in the rear yolk at the rear end yolk?? Thanks for the help.

Just switching out the shocks on mine changed this. Up until I did that I knew every spot of every road I traveled that caused what you're describing. Now those initial hits aren't nearly as bad, I don't cringe before I get to them anymore.
