For the over 40 group, you know who you are, here's the translation,

The Banks iQ is a true in-car PC packed full of functions and applications for use inside and outside of your vehicle. No other device on the market can match what we've put int the iQ. This stand alone device works on a variety of '96 and up vehicles opening the inner workings of your vehicle's ECU letting you see what's beyond your dashboard gauges. You select what you want to see and how you want to see it. Set alarms, adjust gauge colors, read and clear codes, log data, and find out how quick your vehicle really is. You'll find yourself using the host of useful built in tools in your daily life. You'll listen to your favorite tunes, watch videos, play games, review your Windows Office documents and more. It's PC power that fits in the palm of your hand, and with a rechargeable battery you can take it with you whenever you go. Compared to Banks iQ, other vehicle interfaces on the market are one-dimensioned toys with an umbilical cord to your dashboard.

And that's only the beginning... for more information, go to Banks Power |

Shown in actual size: The Banks iQ features a full 5" color touch screen giving you 41% more viewing area then the competitors 4.3" screen.

Revolutionary & Evolutionary.
The best news? Banks iQ is fully expandable and upgradeable. Things like our growing stable of optional micro-computer controlled ad-on performance and safety peripherals like: nitrous control, a tune on-board dyno system, water/methanol injection, boost control, air density meter, air/fuel ratio meter, propane injection, TransCommand and more will pave the way for options beyond your dreams. You'll always be able to run the latest software and download a host of new programs as they become available too!

Put it all together and there's only one smart choice to make. Banks iQ.

Total Control
A lot of companies sell monitoring systems for diesel trucks. These one-dimensional, dashboard-riding "toys" pretend to offer the driver an expanded view into the workings of his vehicle. But a closer look reveals that most of them are lacking in the intelligence and control you think you've paid for.

Information is power, but that's just one piece of the puzzle. Sure, a monitoring device should give you a window into all of your truck's vital systems. But observations is only useful if it leads to action, Our new Banks iQ doesn't just pick up where the other guys leave off... it changes the game from top to bottom by allowing the driver to capture real-time, dynamic data and use it to exercise full control.

Control Freak. Banks iQ puts you where you want to be - in total command of your truck. The other guys offer static tune-up, information-only type devices. With Banks iQ, you can interface with and control our tuning and braking products on the fly. So whatever the terrain, altitude or load, both up-hill and down-hill, Banks iQ puts you completely in control.

Size Matters. Don't let them fool you on this one, Banks iQ offers a full 5" display with screen area that dwarfs any competitor. And why shouldn't we go big when we're offering triple the features of any other brand as well as an infinite increase in control?

The World's first Dashboard PC. With Banks iQ's broad array of programs, expandability, rock-solid Windows CE foundation, market exclusive USB On-The-Go and both micro SD card and USB thumb drive read-write memory storage the Banks iQ is truly something the automotive world has never seen before.

Don't throw your money away on dashboard jewelry. Go with a system worthy of your truck - the Banks iQ.

Any type of pricing yet? I'm very intrested in this. I've asked a local guy who I've bought many Banks items from and he has no info on it. Maybe can get a better price factory direct?

Per Jeff's request, I posted this here as well.

Ok, so I've been playing around with the iQ for the last 2 weeks and I really gotta say I like it. Though the thing is huge and there's no real good place to put it, the fact that everything is right there at a fingers touch out weighs the size. Definitely very user friendly and feature packed.

Pros
The little Brake Pedal icon definitely makes driving around with the Speed Brake more enjoyable on an unladen truck. When the Break Pedal option is enabled, it will not engage the Speed Brake until you physically touch the Brake Pedal. As long as the Brake Pedal is engaged, the Speed Brake is engaged. Soon as you remove your foot from the pedal, the Speed Brake disengages.

The big display allows you to press and get the desired result on anything you want while driving or parked. Definitely no need for a stylus, though it does come with one.

Switching between Speed Brake and Six-Gun functionality is super easy even when driving down a bumpy road.

Customizing the screen displays is really easy and intuitive. Allows for quite a bit of choices.

Screen is bright and clear whether daytime or night. All gauges and readings are easy to see and view regardless of the angle or time of day.

Cons
Thing is freaking huge. hard to find a good place to mount it without causing a blind spot on the wind shield.

The USB cable could have been a little more low-profile. The plug itself sticks out about an inch from the side of the unit. This limits tucking the unit into the corner by the windshield.

Gets real hot. A drive of about an hour gets the unit very hot almost uncomfortably hot while holding in your hands.

Have noticed a few times that the display kinda goes all wonky, kinda like a degauss but stays in the degauss state with no functionality. Have to turn off and turn back on to clear it. Kind of a pain when cruising down the freeway at 65-70.

If I could make some changes
  • The addition of a gear gauge permanently embedded on analog or digital screens. Even if it was just a circle shaped like a gear with the number in the center. doesn't have to be huge, about the size of the foot pedal symbol. Just some indication other then having to remove a current display to show it.
  • A method for going back to the default colors on the gauges. was playing around with changing the color and found out that there is no white option. Resetting the gauges doesn't reset the colors.
  • An option to integrate into an aux input on my Avic-Z2 navigation system. Would be nice to plug it into the Aux input of my stereo similar to the way I have integrated my BlueTooth and iPod and have the display show up on the navigation system. Then I could lock the iQ in the glove box or center counsel. I would definitely pay for the adapter module that would allow this. Something like this.
  • A low profile USB cable would have been nice. Would have allowed for better mounting capability in the windshield near the handle. but the Cable provided takes up about an inch of space that could have allowed you to tuck it into the corner better.
Overall though, as I mentioned, I like it.
