Give us an lifted offroad package with better shocks, more travel, firmer springs, and locking differentials. Give us more power so we don't have to add Banks or HyperTech stuff. Give us more than 4 speeds in the auto trans, like GM does. Give us headrests and shoulder belts for every seating position, like Toyota does. Give us real bumpers instead of those puny chrome and plastic jokes. Give us a strong handle to get in and out of the drivers seat. Give us head lights that illuminate the road better, not just look better. Give us a switch to turn off the passenger airbag so my kids can ride up front with me.
Then maybe I'll get interested in an 02 X. Until then my 00 is jes' fine thank you!

Most customers assume that dealers can affect upcoming products. But as you allude to above, that's not the case. The dealers I've worked with don't really even know when a particular option that's in the brochure will become available. That was the case for me when I ordered my X with the backup alert system. It was in the brochure and on the price list but Ford couldn't deliver it and couldn't or wouldn't even tell the dealer when they could deliver it. When I ordered my wife's Sequoia the Toyota dealer was in the same situation with the DRL system. Toyota couldn't or wouldn't inform the dealer when we'd get our Sequoia with DRLs. After waiting two months, I gave up and took one without DRLs. I just wired up the foglights myself to be on with the ignition.
So don't worry, I'm not picking on you. I'm sure you'd love Ford to deliver the improvments I noted, because then I might buy a new X from you. Ford obviously missed the soccer mom market somewhat with the X, so they might as well pursue a manlier market and equip the vehicle accordingly.
But by loading more luxury crap on the 2002 X, it appears that Ford is still not "getting it" as to what's really missing.
