I kept reading about the PTO capabilities and the high idle to prevent gunk build up when idling for a long time.
I tried to do the high idle mod for the pickups but my X didn't have the wires in the upfitter bundle like the pickups apparently do.
After some searching I came across how to do it ---- same principle as the pickups but you have to run the wire to the PCM yourself vrs Ford doing it for you. Works like a champ ... steady fast idle @ 1200 RPM for when the wife is waiting for the kids at the bus stop.
My 03 has this built in, it jumps to 1200 and then stops when I hit the brake. Did the 05s not come with this, or is it the 6.0 in general. I have a 7.3, maybe thats the deal. Just curious, when mine kicks in it is like a jet engine, the exhaust makes a cool rushing noise.

I now my 04 idles up a bit when cold, but not for long. This holds it whenever I want @ 1200 RPM. Next step is to get the remote starter to start the truck, wait a minute or two and then kick it into high idle. Wouldn't want my lady gunk up the turbo just to get into a warm seat.

I see, I have heard of these, some are adjustable. a cool feature of the Dodge is you can go thru the cruise control mode and adjust the idle to anything you want up to 1300 rpm. Mine goes for a good while while cold but once warm it does shut off quicker or does not come on at all. I think the main reason for the high idle is to prevent "wet stacking" where fuel builds up because it is not burning completely, the high idle helps this keep in check. Thats what I heard at least. The starter has a 12v accessory lead. I plan on getting a timed relay so it will wait 60-90 seconds after start and then activate the pto circuit. right now I'm looking for the relay.

Remote start is in. A very smart little gizmo. Waits for Glow Plugs to heat before starting. It actually senses when the light on the dash goes out before it fires. Turbo Timer is built in, set for 4 minutes and only keeps the truck running if I set the parking brake. No parking brake, no turbo timer.
The icing on the cake was the High idle. The starter was not able to time it to kick on, but the guys @ Sound Solutions in Kingston, PA wired it so I can turn it on with the remote! push a button from in the warm house and it idles up.
Remote start is a Compustar model FT5200S
