285/75R16E options?

Who else, besides BFG, makes a 285/75R16E? I've decided to stick with the stock rims and go with that size tire.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Re: 285/75R16E options?

We have had 285 Goodyear Wrangler MTR's on our rigs for years. Got over 40,000 on mine at this point and will be getting the same shoes again.

Re: 285/75R16E options?

Looks like Toyo makes one. Anyone have experience with the Toyo M55??

Maybe it is pricey.

Re: 285/75R16E options?

Since the Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO in 285-D is only 3% below the rating of a set of E's and both are significantly above the GVWR/GCWR of the vehicle, I don't understand why it has to be an E rating.

Re: 285/75R16E options?

For pure load ability, it does not have to be an E. The D's have softer sidewalls, and that leads to less stability but a softer ride. Like most of life, it's a compromise.

Re: 285/75R16E options?

Nitto makes that size and wt. code and can be purchased for $129.00 w/no shipping from National tire and wheel.
Check it out.

Re: 285/75R16E options?

I just bought 285/75R16E tires from Discount Tire Co for cheap. $550 out the door.

Their an off brand. Dominator or something like that. I went cheap cause I plan to add ym lift soon and then I will be getting new rims and tires.

So far so good. I like em!!

Re: 285/75R16E options?

I was thinking about the same thing....Getting some 285's....

I had been running some 265's from BFG [Long Trail]...ride was nice, but they were to soft, and the tire wear life was short [25k]

Recently switched to Michelin's 265's [LTX] loaded rated E, which I need for towing [#3400 rating]....so far so good....

My question is???

Will the 285's fit stock rims, without causing distortions????

I think the wider tires would like better on the SUV "SOW"
I mean, a BIG PIG needs "BBIIGGGER" tires!!!

The Nitto LT285/75R16's only come in D rating. The only E rated tire I seen from Nitto is the LT265/75R16E's. The only LT285/75R16E's I seen are the BFG AT Ko's,Toyo M-55's and Interco TrXus Mud Terrain's.

Re: 285/75R16E options?

I'm running them with no problem. Hell they were cheaper than 265's

I thought that I might have a little rubbing but none so far. I haven't tried yet

our x had been stock 265's, then recall put 265 e range on, then went to 305 d range.....bigger tire....but ride was "loose", i attribute to less ply on side walls, went back to 265e for firmer ride,....very close to a new set of shoes too,....been reading reviews and the 285 75r16e seems like a great choice if staying with stock rims. any non-believers?

Revo II is available in 285/75-16 E rated. Finally. Put some on over the summer.

Yes, I know this is an old thread, but it's still current info.

Changing from 265 to 285 has the effect of changing your gear ratio. Going to 285's, your effective ration will change from 3.73 to 3.55. If you tow heavy loads like I do, you will notice a difference. Just something to keep in mind. I still run 265's and have change to 4.10 gears. Love towing with the 4.10 gears.
