6.0 ex mpgs?

Hi, I am thinking about purchasing a 2003 or up Excursion 6.0 4x4 diesel. I am going to outfit it with gauges, 3.5" downpipe and 5" all the way back, with an SCT X 2. Ill be getting loney tune, econ, and probably a tow one, what kinds of mpg's can i expect? This isnt a deciding factor of me getting it, I was just wondering what to expect.

Thanks again,

Re: 6.0 ex mpgs?

I have a stock '04 Excursion XLT 2wheel drive I am getting 18-20mpg highway. I get better mpg if I keep speed around 60, once up to 70+ it goes to 18mpg. Crawling around town I average 13mpg. Winter I get about 12 in town and summer about 14, I think this is due to a lot of "keepin it warm" idling in the winter.

Re: 6.0 ex mpgs?

My old '05 (4x4) never got more than 15mpg on the highway, and that's at 65mph. My wife, the main driver would get 11mpg around town. Don't believe the milage computer, figure it out and you will see it's wrong.

Hmmm.......mine is about as dead on as it can be. Every time i check it against hand calc., it's not off more than .5 MPH at most. 13-15 towing, commuter driving 14-16 and HWY not towing can go as high as 20-21 on a real good day, but 18-20 in varying conditions (like wind, which is a killer). I usually run the speed limit or less which helps, and rarely use the cruise. I can manage speed better with my foot.

Re: 6.0 ex mpgs?

Hi All,

I took delivery of my Excursion on 1/08/06 and the dealership was 170 miles from home. They filled it up and I reset the lie-o-meter and by the time I got home it was showing 16.0 mpg. On a recent trip to Florida, at 70 mph, the computer showed 19.5 mpg. That is with 4 people and their gear for 2 weeks. Around town, the computer shows 15.5-16.0 mpg. This is with 17k on the clock. Craig.
