I was looking at installing aftermarket rims (22" rims) but since I tow a 3000+ lb trailer (24 ft enclosed) I wanted to use load range E tires. I have found a package for 22" Rims with Nitto Terra Grapplers that are 325 50 R22 and have a 3305lb load range. What are the largest size tires I can get on the truck? Also if I wanted to use these tires what size lift would I need? Does anyone think I would be ok with using smaller tires 305 45 22 for example, they have a 2908lb load rating. Not sure if this would be risky for the size of the trailer.
If you are stock height there is no way, you will need at least 3 1/2 inches of lift, I would go 4.5" I tow a 2600lb snowmobile trailer that when full with 4 sleds weighs about 6000lbs on D rated tires. You will be fine with Ds but the tires and rims will never make it. I am at 3" with 315/70/17s which are about a 34" tire and I had to cut the front valance and I rub a little on the mud flap. I would be more worried about the strenght of the rim, the fancy designs with thin or wavy "spokes" are very weak and I have seen hairline cracks that will turn into complete failure under load, heavy sideway load or hitting a good pothole or bump. Plus do you really want 22's That leaves very little sidewall and a nasty ride, plus it looks like a pimp ride. Get some 18s at the most, this is a truck not an Impalla.

I second the motoin agianist the big wheel little tire unless you are going to be cruising south beach with a lot og bling bling. anthing smaller then a 44" tire you are much better off staying with an 18" wheel

What wheels have you found so far? I have looked a little but haven't found anything I liked since the choices are so limited for the 8x170mm lug pattern. I was thinking 22s and the Nittos like you were, and I have to worry about towing a car hauler with a Jeep too.
I have been considering redrilling to 8x6.5 if I find ones I like with that pattern.

I have found tons of rims. I was choosing between Veloche Vandalo's and MKW MK19 (which I liked the best) The problem was the tires... and the problems seem to continue when tryin to go bigger. First of all there are only a few tires that support the higher load range: Nitto Terra Grappler, Toyo Open Country A/T or M/T, and BF Goodrich KFW ($600+ tire). I have found tons of rims, but the tires they would include are only sufficient up to 2908lbs per tire... this covers the weight of the truck, but not for the trailer. I was going to put on the Terra Grapplers but I don't believe that they will fit with the stock suspension. I would lift it but according to some feedback people were informing me that I would have to go over 2.5 inches... the whole project seems to be getting too costly for me. The rim dealer is supposed to call me tomorrow about the fitment of the 35" Terra Grapplers and if they would even fit... I would probably go for the project if it doesn't require over a 2.5" lift. But as I said before others suggested not to do it. I would go for the smaller rim with bigger tire, but I just liked the look of the large rims better. I'm surprised no one has tried installing rims and tires of this size. Any advice, suggestions, warnings appreciated. Thanks for the help
I have a full 4" lift and 35" tires(on 16" rims)just fit. I agree with a few of the others above that unless you are wanting to "pimp your ride" stay with a smaller wheel. 22" wheels will look really bad .

[/ QUOTE ] I am sure they have but are too embarrassed to talk about it .
