Aftermarket Exhaust Noise

I wanted to know from all of you guys with Excursions, If the addition of and aftermarket high flow exhaust system creates more noise in the cab?

Which is the biggest bang for the buck?
(down pipe, muffler, cat back system .....)

I have the PPIII and Therminator installes im my Excursion and wanted to lower the EGT's and get a few extra ponies in the process, but the wife will not withstand the addition of more noise (road or exhaust) into the truck.

Thanks in advance for any information....

Re: Aftermarket Exhaust Noise

I have the ATS 4 inch installed from the down pipe back. It does increase the noise "drone" in the interior. I have not had time to do it yet, but I am going to install a piece of flex pipe on the bottom half of the down pipe and may wrap the entire exhaust system with header wrap. The factory exhaust is very heavy especially the muffler. My theory is that the mass of the factory system itself is what keeps the interior noise "drone" down when compared to a fairly light aftermarket system. The exterior "exit" noise is not that bad even with the windows down.

P.S. My wife did not notice the difference, but then we had a 99 F250 PSD, which was a lot louder in the cab.
