The 2002 or 2003 (can't remember) superduty headlamps are the ticket. Clear lenses without the diffusers built in. 2000 headlamps suck.

Factory Fog Lights-How to you change the bulbs?!

Hey, I have the factory fog lights and I was wondering how in the heck you change the bulbs in them. I have a 50watt HID kit that is in the 9005 bulb and will fit in there. That should throw some light and they have a good beam pattern that is nice and low so I wont have to worry about blinding anyone. I too have been looking for some new headlights and there are a ton on ebay with the best prices anywhere but there are some cheap ones, that is for sure. I want to go with some black smoked ones and I think that should look sweet against my black X. Anybody know how to change those bulbs? Thanks

I have a 2000 X and had the same problem. Cheap way out for about 5 bucks, go to the auto parts place and get a bottle of plastic polish for headlights. Doesn't bring it up to exactly new condition, but gets rid of yellowing and fogging.

fog lights

ok, thanks. I just wanted to change out the bulbs and put my HID kit in there. I would mount the ballast in the bumper somewhere. Where I live, deer are a constant problem. That extra visibility in the ditch could make all the difference. I have hit two deer in my honda in the last year going to work. Sorry, I did say a HONDA. I work in a underground silver and copper mine up in the mountains of nw montana and its a 35 mile trip each way from my house and with fuel prices, I am liking my honda more and more all the time. I set a new record the other day, 50 bucks to fill the honda, not cool! Anyone know of some hardcore bumpers like road armor but with more down to earth prices. That is definitely on top of the list. Thanks

I did the same thing with HID for my fog lights and found it was eay to remove the bummper to get to the lights. You shoud have 4 bolds (2 on each side) by the tow hooks. Once you get these bolts it is just turning it over and unscrewing the bulbs. I did also find you have like 3 small screws that hold the bulbs in and it is easy to unscrew them a little to put new ones in then thight them up after. hope this helps you out.

HID in fog lights

Hey, thanks for the tip. I was wondering if I was going to have to do that. You would think they would make it easier to change a bulb in case it went out in the middle of nowhere or something but hey, it does not seem like it will be too hard anyhow. Thanks for the tip. How does a HID perform in the fog lights? Do you have awesome output down low? Thanks

fog lights

Thanks Brent. I plan on getting a bumper like road armor someday but it will probably be a while so I thought I might as well put some real lights in. Thanks

I've pulled and reinstalled my front bumper without help countless times. Use the tow loops to set it on and hand start the bolts on each side. Piece of cake.

fog lights

Hey,
Sounds good. I have a 50 watt HID kits that is a 5000k and puts out like 4500 lumens, so I think it should be good. I had them in my high beams in my 2000 suburban. I have projector headlights and man, seriously the brightest headlights I have ever seen but it takes like 2 seconds to reach max brightness so having HID in the high beam is awesome for light output, but it just kind of sucks when you have to flip it on and off for traffic. I think its kind of hard on the bulb and ballast to be turning them on and off alot like that too so having them in the fog lights should be a better spot for them. Thanks for your help!

Your Cummins Excursion

I could not help but notice it says you have a cummins powered X with an Allison. SWEET!! I would be very interested in the build and what you encountered. I have a lifted 89 suburban that I was planning on putting a cummins in but dont have the money for multiple projects. If I had the choice I think what you have would be the ultimate suv for sure. You get the hard core platform from the excursion(solid axles,3/4 ton,HUGE,), one of the best diesels ever produced, and a bad to the bone tranny. Nice job. If you have any pics posted on the site or anything else about it, please let me know. How does she do pulling around the Excursion? That is awesome.
