AIC in a 6.0 Excursion? Wiring help available?

Any help available out there for installation of an AIC in a 6.0 X? I have the parts, (AIC and Plug pigtail) I intend to self install, need info on where to wire in pigtail and color codes. Is there anything in the 6.0 bible you might direct me to? I am also looking for a Rosewood woodgrain cover for it. Have not been able to get in contact with 350sd who was supplying them due to 2 bad e-mail addresses.
Thanks in advance...

Re: AIC in a 6.0 Excursion? Wiring help available?

I'm guessing that you'll tap the same two wires as you do on the 7.3, but that's purely a guess. There's a pretty good write-up in this forum on how to do it. Let me know if you're unable to find and it and I'll try to scare it up.

Regards,
Dave

Re: AIC in a 6.0 Excursion? Wiring help available?

I wired my 2004 Excursion exactly as you suggested. Apparently no changes from the 7.3 to the 6.0. It works perfect. I have a picture in my webshots album here:

Thanks for the advise, it worked!

Re: AIC in a 6.0 Excursion? Wiring help available?

Glad to hear it! I suspected that they wouldn't change the interface (OBD-II twisted pair) because it's an industry standard, but it's good to know it actually worked!

Have a good one,
Dave

Re: AIC in a 6.0 Excursion? Wiring help available?

dmftoy1, I saw PSD_SUV's truck pics and really like the woodgrain cover he got for his AIC unit. I just bought an AIC, and would like to get a woodgrain cover for mine also. I'd appreciate if you could forward me 350sd's email address too. I'd also like to find the post you mentioned to PSD_SUV about wiring the AIC in a 7.3 PSD. Thanks in advance for your help.

Not sure what to tell you about the Woodgrain cover. I don't have 350SD's email address. Is he a part of midwestoilburners? If he is I could try to find it for you. Here's a link to the URL that I used to wire my AIC: (Scroll down to a good writeup)

Re: AIC in a 6.0 Excursion? Wiring help available?

Dave, thanks for the thread with the AIC wiring info. Unfortunately, I can no longer pull up the detailed post from ford-diesel.com that PSDExcursion listed in the thread (perhaps the web site went out of business). My problem is that I don't have a wiring diagram for my X and I'm not sure which wires are "12V Key Power" and "Ground". Furthermore, I have a Ford Gold remote starter on my X, and I'm not sure that the 12V Key Power will turn on the AIC when I remote start the X (since the ignition switch would still be in Off position until I get in the truck). Should I still use the 12V Key Power or look for another 12V source? Its starting to get cold up here in Kansas and I don't want to go through another wet-stacking winter. P.S. I don't know if 350sd is with Midwest Oil Burners or not. I spoke to ITP Performance today and they suggested that Gene Louder might know how to locate him. I'll call Gene tomorrow.
