Alternator Problems

Hello All
I was wondering if anyone has experienced problems with there Alternator. About 16 month ago I replaced the factory alternator. Over the last 16 month I had to replace the alternator 3 more time but this time the battery also went dead (will not hold a charge/had to replace). I was thinking the voltage regulator was part of the Alternator is this correct? Anyone have any ideas? Also the Alternator came from NAPA

I am in the process of doing the same thing .I just posted this same thing on the 7.3 engine forum. I just replaced my alt because my batteries where going dead. The new alt wouldn't charge either.Found out that the one battery was shot(orginal). I'm changing my batteries tommorow. And from what I've been told the alt won't charge with a shorted battery . I will know everything tommorow. If your batteries wont pass a load test replace those first before looking at your alt. And yes the volt reg. is bult in the alt.[img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]FJF
