Another Excursion question

I posted earlier about purchasing a 2001 Excursion. I have one more question. Is there such an option as a towing package for the Excursions? If so, does anyone know the code I should be looking for? I know the information for Chevrolets, but again, this is my first venture to the Blue Oval world
Thnaks for your time,

greg

Re: Another Excursion question

Hi GregW,

I am not sure about the tow package, and don't own an X...YET. But I do notice that some of them have the factory slide out towing mirrors and others don't. A friend of mine bought an F350 and had to change the mirrors out at the cost of a few hundred bucks.

Re: Another Excursion question

Unless something has changed, all Excursions come with the receiver hitch from the factory - kind of like the rear end version of the front "BlockerBeam" (which I guess is now standard on all the Superduties too... though you still have to order the hitch on the pickups if you want one.)

The tow mirrors are an option, and as it turns out there are no suspension options, so the truck itself comes "ready to tow" without any options, unless you feel you need the mirrors. (I highly recommend them.)

Re: Another Excursion question

Ditto what Duncan has said. The Excursion is already set for towing. Two options that may be useful are the mirrors and a limited slip rear end. I have both and so far, they work great.

Good luck.

Re: Another Excursion question

All the Excursions we have ever seen come with the towing package, reciever and wiring harness with plug. If you have this on yours it is ready to tow. Ford uses a plug hidden in the dash for your brake controller as well so you won't need to cut any wiring to install the controller.
