Anyone Else Having Problems

We have had our Excursion for 5 monts now. The A/C would only work through the defrost vent.(1-Vacume Pump Internal Reg Stuck, Replaced Vacume Pump). The vehicle pulls to the right.(2-Wheel Alignment Out Of Spec, Align Front End). Left Rear Door Sticks When Opening.(3-Make Body Adjustments). Right Rear Quarter Glass Has Come Unattached from The Latch Mechanism (4- Replace The Glass And Latch Mechanism). They fixed 2 out of 4 items the first time, the second time back to the shop they fixed the other 2. Is anyone else having problems or is this just my luck with Fords!------------2000 Excurision With 4000 Miles----- What Happens Next--------

Re: Anyone Else Having Problems

So far only problem has been the lack of electricity to power point in rear seat area. Will have dealer fix when I have the mudflaps, window rain guards and bug guard installed. 600 miles and no pull on braking. Have heard cackle once or twice (usually at low idle) which disappears rather quickly. Am using stanydyne, but have only added it twice so far.

Re: Anyone Else Having Problems

Only problem is brake pull to the right. So far everything seems to work OK.

Re: Anyone Else Having Problems

I have had only one problem. Replaced the transmission at 900 miles. This was due to towing a 5000# trailer 40 miles. I have not towed since then. Am scared to hitch up and go camping to the lake again.

Re: Anyone Else Having Problems

Have Excursion LTD PSD, 3 weeks, 1200 miles. Same thing happened to my air this past week. Front registers stopped, defrost vent and rear air worked fine. Dealer was great, Stopped by on way home found sticking vacuum pump(behind battery on passenger side). They thumped it and everything worked inside. They ordered a new one for me and will install on their ready ramp while I wait. Has worked fine last three days though. Also if anyone is interested, I had exactly 3 gallons left in my tank, five miles after my low fuel light came on. My first two tanks averaged 17.3 MPG calculated city and 75MPH driving.

Re: Anyone Else Having Problems

I thought that most of the problems with the Ford trucks were fixed. When they fixed the Excursion all the computer readout papers showed 250-350 P/U except the rear window. If I had known that there was as many problems as there was I would have waited awhile longer before buying it. Thats a lot of money to bring it back to the shop so soon.

Re: Anyone Else Having Problems

Well, guys, I see 200 people have read this thread since it started (and could have posted bad news) and with the exception of one fried tranny, it don't look that bad.

With all of the working parts that vehicles have and the way that have to be put together to keep costs down, what do you want?

The 4r100 has been in the SD for a while now. Some have problems, somes don't. Some cannot pull the skin off custard without a problem and some pull like a freight train. If I was you, exoval, I'd be pulling that trailer around first chance I get. Where the heck is that pioneer spirit? You are under warranty!

Can't wait for next week when ours shows up. As for my 99.5 PSD, we now have 23,000 miles on it since June 99 and she drives like brand new, only faster and harder!

Let's get some positive vibes out there!

Re: Anyone Else Having Problems

Since November:

- Clunking in rear end - replaced both shocks
- Tranny fluid leak- added 2nd clamp on coolant line
- replaced cupholder that wouldn't flip open
- "seat tilt" handle fell off rear seat
- trailer electrical jack fell off
- Power steering super stiff at idle (to be fixed shortly)
- cackles merrily away...

BUT, even with these annoying little problems, I still love the truck. I figure it's just a matter of time until all the bugs are ironed out.

John Pahl: I don't know of any dealer's like that in Houston. Who is the dealer giving you that quality of service in Houston?

Re: Anyone Else Having Problems

The dealer is Randall Reed Ford in Humble. Not only do they give good service, but I picked up my LTD, PSD for $7000 off list! If you do a little figurin, thats almost $1800 below invoice. I now have almost 2k miles on it in about 3 weeks of driving and love it. Take a lot of trips on business all over South and East Texas. Originally wanted 4 x 4 but they would only come down $5k so I went with the 4 x 2 with 3.73 LS. I also drive a lot of grooved country roads that the drilling rigs have rutted up. It's firmer than my Suburban was but no problem pulling left or right. He goes where I point it and is much quieter than I anticipated at cruise.

- Door lock sticking. Dealer replaced actuator but problem still occured. Fixed it myself w/ can of silicon spray

- Coolant leak. Dealer fixed w/ bracket on infeed to water pump

- Current Problem - Diesel engine shutters when driving. Dealer attempting to find problem. This happened on a long trip accross county. Got any ideas whats wrong ?
