I've had the Wilderness ATs (265/75), Michelin LTX MS (265/75) and presently Dunlop Radial Rover AT (285/75) and I'm not happy with any of them!!! (I'm also going broke). The X just won't "lay down"----needs little corrections all the time and really stinks in crosswinds. Now I know it's a big box, and it's really heavy and all that, but I've had lots of Suburbans before (3/4 ton) and I've had several F350 CC 4x4 that have not had this problem.(they were point and go!) In thinking this over I do remember the F350's had the 235/85's and the Subs had 245/75's. Could it be the taller/more narrow tires track better?? I've played with air pressures, alignment so this is my last revelation.
All suggestions are appreciated.
BTW--I know 245/75 are not taller, just more narrow.

A couple of days after I bought my X, I put
305/70/R16 Goodyears on the stock wheels. I noticed that the rear end felt a little soft.
(similar to having low pressure in the tires) I then bought a set of American Racing Wheel "Atlas" 16x8 wheels. I haven't experienced one problem since.
Hey Mr Aces(Rich)-
Do you feel any appreciable difference between stock (I think you had R4s Stones) and what you have now?? You had considerable miles on those stock tires and did have any of the "drifting"---"constantly making corrections" that I am experiencing? Guys I'm talking to say their rig is fine so maybe I'm nuts!!! You met me, what do you think??
Thanks for you help buddy.
Scotpart-
Seems like you and Aces think the wider wheel is the solution. Aces has the 285s on the wider wheels so I'll see what he has to say.
Thanks

Well, you're a little nuts, or I wouldn't have liked you when I met you. ALL my friends are a little nuts.
As far as the wheels, I didn't have trouble w/the stock wheels & tires. I've never tried anything on the stock rims but the Firestone 265/75/16's. When I upsized, it was a used set of tires, on Weld 16x8's. No tracking problem whatsoever. The only comment I have about the tires is that they're noisier. Could that be because of the wear???
On my last truck, I had BFG 35" KO TA's, and they were quieter than these 285/75/16's, which have about half the tread life gone!!!!No tracking problem on those either.
Could you have an alignment problem???
I don't know if any of this is helping you, but then again, maybe you're fussier!!!!

Aces,
What kind of wood dash did you get? I priced one the other day that actually replaces the dash. You have to send them your dash when you get the new one. They were asking $400+ but it includes the dash and the four doors. It matched the wood pieces that were already in the guys LTD X.
don't know the brand name, but I got it from Superduty Hq---it wasn't as expensive as $400, and it looks great!!!!
By the way, I see you have pretty big tires. Did you put fender flares on your XLT?? If so, what kind.

Aces,
Funny that you should ask. I've been looking into different flares for the past week. A friend of mine has a 350 that's tricked out. It's kind of like the Three Bears. Some are too big, some are too small, but his are just right. I'll get the brand name for you. I'm trying to figure how to integrate them into the existing cladding.I think that if I take te cladding off everything but the doors it might look like c**p. I'll probably see if I can start them at the top of the cladding.( The X is black so I want to keep the flares the same color. I'll let you know.
X-cuses,
It's my opinion that when you think bigger tires you also have to think wider.
