Bad Fuel

Today, I found automotive diesel for $1.469/Gallon . I eagerly filled-up my Excursion's empty tank with the cheaply priced diesel fuel, which in this neck of woods is normally priced $1.69. Within 5 minutes of fill-up, the Excursion began running rough and started emitting a steady cackle sound. Bad Fuel

Obviously, I didn't read the FAQ on diesel fuel, which recommend buying fuel from a Truck/automotive gas station that has a high turnover. This station was in the middle of nowhere (autos only). Oops.

I read the PSD manual, and it didn't have any information on additive (other then don’t add anything to the fuel ). Is there any safe additives that can be added to the tank to address this issue ?

Re: Bad Fuel

I would use Stanadyne PF which has almost every additive posssible. I would double up on the recommended treatment rate to get more effect from the water dispersants. Also, your NAPA dealer will probably have a water dispersant additive which you may also want to add. Make sure it is non-alcoholic.

After you burn off this tank, I would drain your fuel filter and change the filter.

How does that old addage go? You get what you pay for?
