What's the best fitting, non-droning, exhaust/muffler combo out there?
Straight pipe is way too loud for me pulling, I'm not in high school anymore, lol. Looking for a 4" system w/nice mellow, throaty sound. Single outlet, swept back/down exit.
Right now my 1st choice is the Magnaflow satin stainless w/24" XL muffler and 5" rolled edge tip.
I see they make a 4" or a 3.5" dp, is the 4" dp too tight to be practical?
Suggestions??
Thanks for the advice.

I agree on the Magnaflow kit. It will give a nice low rumble without being too loud. Also, the 4" down-pipe will fit without issues. You might as well stick with the 3.5" though unless you plan on going all out. If you have any questions, give us a holler.

The 4" works well with the ATS turbo housing and an AFE intake system.

I just put on a Diamond Eye 4" exhaust today. I'm putting off the downpipe upgrade until/if I get another turbo (most likely a Garrett BB next year).

I've heard the same that a 3.5 DP is better for low end with a stock or slightly modified setup unless your going to do some HP modifications to take advantage of the 4" DP.
If you go 4" DP it should go in no problem.
We have the Banks monster exhaust and it sounds real nice.
Magnaflow is nice as well, I really like their rolled tip vs the Banks tip.

I spoke to Jody at DP today about an F5 chip, he also suggested sticking with the 3.5" pipe for the same reason, more low end torque w/stock injectors. So, I guess it's a win win win, cheaper, more torque, and easier to install.

You can do a search on this site. There's been plenty documentation about this with a whole lot of opinions but like mykidsarebrats said, I don't think you'll be able to completely eliminate it. I guess I'm lucky and don't really notice it on mine.

I have some with the magnaflow system when I am in any of the program modes. Stock not as much.

OOPS. Its MBRP. Good catch. I don't know what I was thinking. If you do change you may get the drone.

I would stay with a 3.5 dp even if you go above a chip air cleaner or tow alot. I have the Hypermax 5" exaust with a 3.5 dp and I'm very happy with it,no drown and it is quieter than the 4" exaust that I had before and it fit great considering it was 5". I made 479 hp & 930 ft lbs and ran 13.75 @ 97 mph all with a 3.5 dp.
