Best exhaust system for the "X" ?

I would like to hear from "X" owners who have had their "X" at least for one year with an after market exhaust system.
Who has the best? Good for 100K +?
Where to get the best deal?

Thanks

Ken

Re: Best exhaust system for the "X" ?

Hi Ken...
since I have a 100k warranty and care somewhat about emission, I just had my local muffler shop straight pipe it from the cat back and put a nice chrome tip on it... He 'stored' the muffler for me with all the others he's taken off of diesels and said - it will be here if you want it back on.... but most don't !"

While I acknowledge that the downpipe is probably a bottleneck, I haven't wanted to go any further at this time until I am comfortable that the 6.0L Ex is the real thing !

Re: Best exhaust system for the "X" ?

I've been researching this for a while and I'm planning on installing a DPPI system when I get the cash.

Re: Best exhaust system for the "X" ?

After extensive research on this and the 7.3 aftermarket board, I ordered the Banks Monster exhaust with the Power Elbow. First, it had a history of satisfied owners and installers who all praised the system. Second, it seemed from the opinion of all it was the quietest. Third, the exhaust is only as good as the smallest diameter - I don't care if you have 5" pipe, the stock turbo outlet elbow is 2 5/8". The Banks system Power Elbow replaces stock with a 3 1/2 cast iron elbow and uses stainless pipe. The elbow also has a nice fitting machined into it for a pyrometer. I will install it sometime this week. Buy from someone on this board and tell them you heard about them here.

Re: Best exhaust system for the "X" ?

I bought the Magnaflow supertuner from ITP he selles both the Banks and Magnaflow. I bought the Magnaflow. I was told all of them with the strait through design muffler will be louder but Magnaflow had the least amount of drone. Ken

Re: Best exhaust system for the "X" ?

Banks
This system was easy to install. I did not get the power elbow either.
The sound level was only slightly louder than stock but a deeper tone. I was concerned before I bought it that it would be obnoxious. It wasn't.
Good luck!!

Re: Best exhaust system for the "X" ?

Do any of you know if the Banks system will fit onto a 2004 4x4 Excursion without modifications?

If not is there another system that will?

Regards;

David

Re: Best exhaust system for the "X" ?

Banks has not released their 6.0 exhaust yet.
I have my Monster from my totaled 2000 X and I was asking if it could be adapted. Big difference is the Catalytic Converter. Downpipe is also different.
I guess you could cut and weld!!!
