Search isn't working. So, Any tips for getting the best milage in an X? My 2000 is stock for now but I would like to install parts that will help get better milage.
AIS, DP Tuner 80econo, guages, leave the stock exhaust alone and drive by the guages. I wish I left mine on because now I have a drone I can't get rid of. Its not bad I just like it quite. Anyone want a MBRP 4"exhaust with 3.5" downpipe and with flx pipe section?
Leave the stock tires unless you go narrower but same height.

AIS Ford's Advance Intake System (I think). Check the powerstrokeshop.com for info. DP Tuner (also a sponsor has cprogram chips for our trucks. The 80 econo smakes the truck drive like a gasser and get better mpgs. I would get the position chip with stock, high idle, 60 tow and 80econo. Guages for driving within limits of the engine due to the chip.

Mine is stock, except for slightly larger tires, and has consistently run at 20-21 mpg (doing the math not the trucks calcs) at 65 mph. I make sure all of the filters are changed regularly and that it is 100% ready for any trips, including tire pressure. I plan to delete the muffler but so far stock is good.

The vast majority of your mileage gains will come from your right foot. There's lots of posts on here on how to wring out a couple more MPG's.
IMHO, one of the best things out there to teach you how to drive economically is the ScanGauge which includes a real-time MPG display. With a real-time MPG display, you can find out what works and what doesn't.
Here's something to get you started. This was written for class 8 tractor-trailers, but a lot of it is applicable to 3/4, 1 ton trucks.
The last to replies hit good points on the head. You'll spend more than you'll make up in a reasonable time. The best way is fuel management with the right foot.

This is all true about the return on investment. But, the tuner does make you smile.

How significant of a differance dose running a 235 tire instead of a 245 tire make? It seems like it would be negligable...
I do relize that spending $1500 on hot rod parts is not going to pay off for a long time but most of the parts listed have other reasons to get them, like better air filtration, lower EGT and more power, right?
235? 245? I didn't know any X's came with that size tire. My 01 came from Ford with 265's and I thought they were nothing more than "pizza cutters" so I moved up to 285's (and no, mileage didn't suffer).

I didn't gain any MPGs, but I gained in power with NO loss of mpg. So did I gain, yup, a big grin .
