Big Rear vented glass stopped opening???

Anybody had any issues with their big rear glass not opening? I have an 04 X, 20K miles, where the right side ( drivers side) glass won't open anymore. The passenger side still vents open. Anyway, I'm off to the dealer just curious if this is going to be an on-going problem?

Re: Big Rear vented glass stopped opening???

The vents will stick to the rubber seal and not break loose sometimes. Treat the rubber with a silicone conditioner every other month and all should be well. To test to if this is your problem, press switch to close the right vent window then press to open switch and see if it breaks loose.

Re: Big Rear vented glass stopped opening???

Thx RoyC, that seemed to fix the issue. After prying the glass from the seals with some silicon spray, some slight hand pressure and oiling the motor guides, it freed the window up.

I am sure they stick but one of mine sounds bad also. When it opens it sounds like a cat getting stepped on. I need to figure out how to take that motor apart and lube it.

I'd just replace it. The motor only costs about $10 and you'd already have it out to lube it.

I did not know they were that cheap. Is that from Ford? Does anyone have a part # for driver and passenger side? Still unsure how the motor d/c from the window. Thanks.

I didn't know the motor alone was sold thru Ford,I thought you had to purchase the entire actuator assembly?

It's been a while since I had mine replaced. I just looked around and the best price I could come up with was about $35. The good news is that the motor can be purchased seperately and is very easy to swap out.

Re: Big Rear vented glass stopped opening???

Sorry, don't have a part number. I do know, however, that it is called a "Quarter Window Actuator".
