WHAT IS THE LARGEST TIRES ANYONE HAS GOT ON AN EXCURSION WITHOUT ANY MODIFICATIONS (BODY OR SUSPENSION) AND STILL BEEN DRIVABLE?
IF I DO A LIFT, IS PROCOMP STILL THE ONLY ONES DOING KITS FOR EXCURSION?
THANKS FOR ANY REPLIES.

In the BFG line, the 295 BFG TA KO's are about it. 305 Goodyears are about the same diameter and will probably fit like the BFG's. The 295's rub the moulded mud guard slightly at full wheel extension. Wife's X rubs on both mud flaps, the 350 on one side only. I guess I must be out of square. Regular flaps probably won't rub or you can take the moulded ones off for 10k miles and put them back on after the tire wears down a bit. I have left my moulded flaps on as the noise is not that bad. I defintely would not go any bigger without doing some type of lift. Somebody on this board installed the 450/550 springs on the front. If you get a 1 1/2" front lift from these springs as reported, you might be able to go several tire sizes more.
If you go with 295's make sure to recalibrate your PCM. On my X the larger tires made a difference for the worse on how the tranny shifted. For some reason the 350 is not as noticeable but I am still going to have the PCM reacalibrated anyway. I like the idea of the speedometer being accurate. You don't want to give Troutly and gang more opportunities than they deserve.
JDALLEN, skyjacker, fabtech, superlift all make lifts for the xcar I have 35*12.5*16.5 on mine with a 4" lift and no problems. mike

I have BFG 295 KO's. Like POLR BR, mine rubbed slightly on the moulded flap but only on the drivers side and only when fully turned. After a few thousand mile I quit hearing/noticing. The front end replacement I installed lowered the front slightly. I just installed the 450/550 springs which lifted the front 2 inches and now it rides level. 40.25 inches from ground to top of wheel well. No telling what size tire I could use now but I will probably stick with the 295 KO's. They have been great tires so far with 25K.

POLR BR how is your trans shifting after calibration ? With the 265's I am running 1,500rpm at 50mph. What RPM does your PSD turn at 50mph with the 295's ?
The transmission shifted hard until the recal. Returned to normal afterwards. When I get my hands on the X, I will check the rpms against what you have posted. May be awhile however.
