Bilstein shocks for 05 Excursion

I had a 00 Ex and installed the Bilstein shocks which I enjoyed. I just purchased a 05 Ex, but there is no listing past 02 for a 2 wheel drive diesel Excursion. I suspects they may the same up to 05. Has anyone installed Bilsteins on a 05 Excursion or possibly a 04. Thanks

Call Shane at Bilstien West (858-386-5900 in Poway, CA) and ask him the question. He's a sharp kid...knows his stuff.

Bear in mind that there is two different valvings for the 2wd Ex. I have the BE5-6206 (if memory serves). I find them rather harsh, and was just speaking with Shane about this last week. There is an alternate shock that their current "ride quality engineer" has spec'd for the EX which has about 25% less stiff compression and maybe 10% less stiff rebound which Shane mentioned would be a better fit for me. Seems like they are off of an F250 2wd. I'm going to send my fronts to Shane to have them revalved with the lighter valving and see if I like them any better.

Bilstein does a great job, and I'm a loyal customer. I have them on my Chevy pickup also and sell them all day long for my Jeep customers.

Last year I asked the same questions after going to the Bilstein web site and trying to find the correct shocks for my application. I then called Bilstein....

I spoke to a couple of people from their technical staff and was told that Bilstien does not make a shock for Excursions '02 and up. They said that their engineers noticed that in '02 Ford changed the spring rating and the angle of the shock mounts or something like that; I was then told that a few years back Bilstein was under the assumption that Ford was to discontinue the Excursion, we all know that story, and that was the reason why they did not developed shocks for the '02 and up X's. I was also told that if I installed their shocks on my '02 X that my shock warrenty would be void if there was a problem with them. Please remember that this was last year, Bilstein may have changed their tune since then and just not updated the PDF on thier web site.

There are many '02-'04 owners on this web site who claim to have successfully installed BE5-6208 and BE5-6209 Bilsteins for a '01 X (stock 4x4 - no lift) and love them.

I just ordered a set a couple of days ago for my 05, I used the 01 numbers. I should get them from UPS in the next day or so and hopefully have them installed next week. I'm going on vacation the following week and won't be taking the truck so I won't have a lot of feedback on them for a few weeks.

I put '02 Rancho 9000s on my '03 X. They work just fine.

Installed the Bilsteins over the weekend. Definate improvement in the ride and handling. Firmer but not harsh.
