Finally!! The front Bilsteins for 2X4 are here. Installed all four today. The right front was a pain, the rest were easy. Ride quality is improved over stock, however the fact that the radio was playing the "Triumphal" march from Aida might have had some influence on my perception. I'm glad I waited for Bilsteins.

I also want to do this soon. Where did you get them? Do you need special tools? Can you do it in your driveway with socket wrenches and one jack? Do you need a torque wrench? It's been 30 years since I did any kind of work like this.

Got them through a friend who is next door to shocks.com. I would not want to do this on the ground, it would be very difficult. You really do not need a torque wrench. The left front can be reached from above with a deep 16 mm socket on a long extension. The right front you have to go through the wheel well. The wheels really have to be off the ground for the shocks to fit, as they are gas pressure. Good luck

Hey, Ferrari----I just got mine, for a 4x4. I'm just curious---they are yellow, but the front ones have blue sleeves, and the rears don't. When I called Shox.com, they didn't know too much about it, so they had me call Billstein, and they didn't know too much either. How did yours arrive???
I bought mine from shox.com. They were very helpful and I'd buy from them again. I have a 4x4 X and put them on in my driveway, without jacking up the truck. It just takes a little work to compress the shock to mount it properly. If you turn your front wheels all the way left, it allows access to the front mounts. For the rears, you'll need a long extension to reach the top mounts. The Bilsteins are a great improvement in ride and handling.
Aces,
I have the 4x4 as well and I also have the blue rubber sleeve in front and yellow metal sleeve in the rear. I can't even see the top of the rear shocks on the X. I think Bilstein only uses blue on rubber boots or sleeves and yellow on all the metal components. They sure ride better than the stock shocks.

Yeah, I got them, however they are different enough from the stock that I did not install them. Wasted $25.00, Oh well, not the first time.
