The cladding underneath the filling cap keeps coming loose...
The diesel drips down at times and loosens the two faced tape that holds it on....
The 'nearest' thing I can think of to use would be some 3M 'exterior' two face tape...
The crap is expensive....like $4.00 for a 5 foot roll....You can get it most everywhere....Including office supply houses, WalMart, etc, etc...
The next time, I re-attach it, I'm also going to use some silcone adhesive, just to fortify it , from the diesel...

I took mine off one side a week ago to paint it. I used high test fishing line to cut thru the tape. The ones on the doors are just taped to the doors and the front fender and rear panel are screwed and taped. After spending alot of time and soar hands trying to scrape the tape off the paint I put the left side back on with 3m tape. My tape has the red cover on it and it will never come off. Now Im going to have mine repainted on the truck. Have you had any estimates of how much it cost to paint the plastic?

I have talked to a few shops here and they told me like 500 and that is with me bring it in. I feel that is way too much so I am going to pull the off and get a gun to do it myself. Hope I do I good job. From what I am finding out it is only like 80 to 90 for me to get the stuff I need. Will post what I bought and pics once I am done.

I took mine off and left it off. The heat gun really helps get the residual tape off, but plan on spending an afternoon at it and wear gloves or you'll get blisters peeling that tape off.

Use adhesive remover. Body shop paint houses sell it. Also 3M makes an adhesive remover, and as was mentioned, a heat gun helps too. If you're going to cover it all back up, it doesn't have to look pretty underneath when you're done.... I'd use 3m adhesiver remover and scotchbrite pads.

Mine was peeling were the fuel spilled down. I paid a local shop $150 to remove clean and reapply. Once done, I used a bead of clear silcone to prevent the fuel from getting under the molding. So far so good.
