I have an 01 X that's getting a bit long in the tooth. Looking at a nice 05 at the moment - it's a black, limited, 4x4, diesel X. The price is right.
Was wondering if there is anything I should look, or be aware of, before I buy. Back in the day, people were nervous about the 6.0s. The truck I'm looking at has been well taken care of and never chipped.
Personally I am nervous about the 6.0 because of emissions. I like the 7.3 since it has no emissions crap. Is restoring your rig not an option if it has served you well?

I have 265K on my 2000 and don't intend on moving up to a new model. I like the 7.3 to well and haven't had any power plant issues.

Long in the tooth is ... tranny is slipping, 160k miles, many minor mechanical issues, suspension is a mess, it will be totaled long before all the money required to fix this stuff. So, might as well sell it to a diesel guy (have one lined up) and upgrade to a newer one. At least, that's the way I'm figuring it. From a money perspective, it doesnt make sense for me to keep it.
i had a 2000 X with a 7.3 for a few years always regret selling it and just keep my Dmax crew cab pick up i missed having the big SUV and about a year ago i picked up an 05 X with a 6.0 and i love it its still stock but its very fast compared to my 7.3 was. I think if you drive and not race it and take care of it of the maintenance it will last you a long time thats only my 2 cents.
