A/C Trouble?

Has anyone had A/C trouble? My X seems to cool when you are not moving, but as soon as you go down the road a couple of miles it cools off and no A/C. I have had it into my local dealer 3 times and all they said was "It was full of freon", and they replace the dryer because the system had moisture in it? Just checking to see if anyone else has had any problems...

Re: A/C Trouble?

I've had the same problem - didn't get it checked out since I'm sure it is wasting my time, but it will cycle from warmer (60*F) to cooler (45*F) after about 15 minutes of driving and continue until I stop - not shut the motor off, but stop driving for awhile - makes me think the condenser is freezing up and then thawing due to the excessive engine compartment heat......... just a guess

Re: A/C Trouble?

If you run both the front and rear evaporators the temp will come up 5-15 degrees over just running the front dash vents.

We heavily insulated the entire cold charge system (engine back) and the results was a good 5-10 degree drop.

Add a 16-17" pusher fan to the front of the condensor and that'll benefit a good 5-10 degree drop.

Some of ya'll have seen my AC mods the past summer and the total cost for parts was less than $10.

Cold air temps are about 45-50 degrees lower than the outside ambient air temp. but the dash vent temps won't drop below 38 degrees which is fine with me
