Chipped Bumper

Another winter another couple dozen rusty rock chips in the painted oem bumper. Has anyone had success getting F**d to switch the front and back bupers to chrome ?? Or is chrome just as bad ? The truck has seen two winters and it'll look hideous

Re: Chipped Bumper

Our 99.5 F250 had the chrome bumper which is almost identical to the one on our 2002 Excursion, the bumper took a good hammerin from going over the Sierra Nevadas on I-80 but it never seemed to get rust spots from the pebble hits.

I dunno about the painted bumpers that are available on some models of Excursions and Superduties on what kind of a beating they take from road junk.

Ford's still rolling the trucks off the line with chrome bumpers so they're available.

Re: Chipped Bumper

If you can't get ford to do anything for you and you like the look of the painted bumper, I may have a suggestion. You could get your bumper powder coated. That should hold up much better than paint. Don't know how expensive that would be though. Should give a nice look also.

Re: Chipped Bumper

I called a local shop about a bedliner of the same color to cover the front bumper. They said it could be done but had no idea of the cost. I have the same problem and they said no to the warrenty of it. I would remove the bumper, strip it of all plastic and hardware and bring it to someone. I would think a good thick paint would be better than the thin paint Ford used. I am waiting until spring and then I will be doing this, a chrome bumper would not look good when there is no chrome anywhere on the truck plus I like the mono look. It is disheartening to say the least.
