Chips(Bully Dog)

I originally posted this to the upgrades/aftermarket forum, but only got two responses, and was hoping to make a decision very soon.
So please forgive me if this is the wrong forum for this inquiry, hopefully y'all can help out. Although I am not new to turbo's, I'm too new to the diesel truck ownership to know which route to take.
Anyway:

I've talked to a local turbo diesel specialist that swears by them, and will only sell that brand.

SuperChips?
Hypertech?
Western Diesel?

I would hope that Hypertech and Superchips have a better reputation than they do in the Turbo Buick community, because the chips they make for the Turbo Buicks are really poor technology!!

This same "expert" also told me that Western Diesel chips are really Superchips with the WD label on them. Any truth to that, or is he just smokin' the wrong stuff. He is highly respected around here in San Diego, but though I have tons of experience with turbo's etc. in the Buick world (make my own chips). I have no experience with the PSD that I just bought.

I have to wonder why these chips cost 10 times what our Buick chips do?

Thanks for any and all input.

Re: Chips(Bully Dog)

There have been a couple tests on chips. Here's one: www.ford-diesel.com/contents/getitems.php3?Part%201%20-%20Paducah%20Dyno%20Test

Here's another: www.dynotuning.com/ford_test_area.html

Since this test Western Diesel has come out with two new chips.

And, no, Western Diesel is not a Superchip with a sticker on it. They use Programma blank chips and write their own programs.

I plan to eventually trade up from my PPIII to a Western Diesel chip.

TTS and TS Performance also make some high-power chips, but their respective agents/employees/owners have been incredibly condescending and rude towards others on this website and I will not do business with either one of those companies.

Too bad, they may have nice products.
