Clearance (roof) Lights

I pointed out to the wife the clearance (roof) lights and estimated cost and she is all for it.

There was a link I saw here, and cannot find it again now for the life of me, that was a a fairly detailed how-to on installing the clearance (roof) lights, pictures, measurements and part numbers.

It was a white (or at least a very light) colored Excursion. Anyone know what I am talking about?

Also, totally different question, but probably does not deserve its own thread. I saw another link (yeah don’t remember that one either) that had a TheDieselStop.com decal on the back window. With all the great info I get from here I would love to spread the word myself. Where do I get these?

Thanks.

I did it but I (like a lot of guys) used instructions that were put together by Motoman! He published pretty detailed instructions HERE.

For the Excursion, you can use the cheaper Ford harness that is for the trucks with no overhead console. You'll run it backwards, down the drivers a-pillar and splice into the parking light harness or the like.

The Excursion also has a big headliner that can be a PITA to manage while doing it, especially since it'll be unfastened back to the 2nd seat so you don't bend it as much. But don't be worried about a little crease or 2; they disappear shortly.

That's not the link I saw, but THANKS, has the same information I was looking for.

I have the overhead console, so you are saying I can go either way, but the wire harness without the overhead console is cheaper? By off chance do you know the part numbers?

Thanks again.

Re: Clearance (roof) Lights

I'll see if I can dig up the PN's.

As for cheaper, it's about $10 cheaper maybe. I think I paid about $55 for everything from www.1stFordparts.com. I liked it not having all the other stuff on it since we can't use it anyway. We don't have the connector to just plug it in like the trucks do.

Re: Clearance (roof) Lights

If you don't want to drill holes in your roof and tear back your inside roof liner, do what I did, put them on the roof carrier. Check pics.
