Cold Front For X

I have done some searching but all I find is SD PU. I drive a short distance to work and need the heat. Thanks.

Re: Cold Front For X

Did you already check out Cabelas Summer/Winter Truck Grille Cover ?

The Excursion stock chrome frame is nearly if not identical to the SuperDuty grille

Re: Cold Front For X

That would work but I am looking for a snap in cover. The screen front might work but the cold front is the one. Thanks, it will work if I can't find the other.

I've seen one that attaches with Velcro, maybe subbing Velcro instead of the snaps?

Below is a link to LUND that has two. A plastic and Stainless Steel. There is a company in Canada that makes something similar but I cannot find them right now.

Re: Cold Front For X

I got this reply on an email I sent about a year ago:

"I do have the pattern for this truck. It should be the same grill as the
Ford Super Duty. You can view a photo of the screen on my website at
www.canvascraft.net.

I use two different systems for fastening the fronts on. The first method
uses snaps and requires drilling in the grill to install the snap studs.
The other method uses strips of 1" wide all-weather self-adhesive velcro.
We usually sew four 2 1/2" long strips across the top & bottom edge of the
front.

The combination winterfront/bugscreen set with the snaps sells for $45,
including UPS shipping in the continental U.S. The set with velcro sells
for $49.95, including shipping in the continental U.S.

Thanks for your interest.

Sincerely,

Max Dahl
Canvas Craft"

I never did buy a front. My money keeps getting spent in other ways. Let me know what you get and how you like it. I might "have" to get one.

Hope this helps,
John

Re: Cold Front For X

I bought one of the canvascraft cold fronts for our X and it fit and worked just fine. It went with the X when I sold it...

You do have to drill small holes in the perimeter plastic grill structure, to screw in the other side of the snaps. I don't think he was offering the Velcro version at the time. I opted for the cold front only, not the bugscreen. It's cheaper, but then you can never go back and add the bugscreen, because they are handmade and matched together at the time when you buy a set.

Re: Cold Front For X

Duncan - Would you do it again? How was the quality? I was thinking of getting both. I was going to try the velcro.

Thanks,
John

The quality was great. My only complaint was that it was not very elegant for partially-open operation. It has a zipper down the middle, but there is not really any way designed in for stowing the resulting flapping sections. I tried tucking them down in, but I usually just put it on for really cold temps, and removed it entirely if it got any warmer. Maybe he fixed that with the velcro version? All he'd need would be pieces of strategically sewn on velcro on the front to hold down the unzipped flaps.

Re: Cold Front For X

Just got off the phone with Max and the Velcro fastening setup does have the zipper down the front starting from top center,he stated to just fold/tuck the flaps in and we'll have no probs.

He usues the same material for the banners that some of the truck clubs use for their logos at meets.

Just placed my order for the winter/bug screen combo, shipped to the door $49.95

I suggested he visit the site and possibly become a TDS sponsor as it could be lucritive determining how many owners would like to have winter guards, bug screens depending on their locations.

Re: Cold Front For X

I got the one from Cabela's for my Ex. This was another disappointment for me. My 01 Chevy duramax truck come with a free front grill and bumper cover from the factory that fit great and looks pretty good. And Ford doesn't even offer one as an option.
