I recently purchased a 3-gauge pod that goes underneath the cubby storage area. It looks great and access to the fuse panel from this location couldn't be easier. So... at this point I have high hopes for a smooth install but the thing I can't quite see yet is how to get my sender unit wires through the firewall. Is there a spot people normally use for this? I searched the term firewall and saw that there are 3 12V wires that go through the firewall that people use for DRL, but I need to get a sender unit wire through there. Well, actually I need to get 3 sender units through, some other wires to control a relay under the hood. TIA.

Well, honestly I haven't done it yet, but I read that most people are running it out where the wiring harness goes through the firewall. There should be enough space to shove a couple of wires through.

I just completed the install on my 2000 Ex a couple weeks ago. Going thru the Firewall was difficult as there is insulation on the outside and inside firewall. Trying to shove that boost tube thru the main harness is not a good option. The best way to run on the Ex is to take all connections for the Boost, Trans Temp, any Pyro thru the floor where the Transmision shift cable exits the cab. Just pull back the carpet on the driver side about 4 inches and you will see it. There is a rubber grommet on the floor that I reamed a small hole in and ran the lines then put some silicon around hole to reseal. Be careful to use nylon ties and keep everything away from the exhaust, but it works well and has a minimal disturbance on the stock appearance of the truck.
I used the customer access wiring to wire my gauges. The only wire and hose that runs through the fire wall is for the pyrometer and boost gauge. I ran them through by the bracket that holds the master cylinder so I really didn't have to disturb the insulation much.

i ran my air line(for bags) and attitude cable through large rubber grommet behind e-brake...

There's a triagnle shaped plastic plug you can drill through (I used a 3/4" hole saw) then fill it once the wires, tubes etc. are through. Although I also used the trans cable through the floor trick for something; maybe the tranny temp and maybe the thermorcouple lead.

Where is that triangle plug located? I am trying to find a route for my new behind the grill fog lights switch. Also, any suggestion on switch location?
Do you or anyone elso know what the four rubber capped wires are for under the hood, right above the fuse box? They just hang there.

Same here. I believe that plug is where the Clutch linkage would go through the firewall for a manual transmission truck. Really easy to use since it just "pops" off. To locate it start at the brake master cylinder and look below and to the left I believe. (been awhile since my head was in there). On my truck it was shaped like a diamond I think.

Dave
Have a good one,

Four wires are customer courtesy wires to use as you wish. They go out to the engine area in front of the drive side up near the crowl area.
The black triangle thing is tucked way up under the dash behind the emergency brake pedal, hard to get to but convenient to pass wires through after drilling the right sized hole for such purposes(it pulls out for drilling).
I used this on my 02 and will again. It is for the clutch push rod,
with the auto is is just a plug you can remove work on gromit or what ever and replace, on my 02 there was also a perfed cutout in the insulattion around it.

Their website is very user friendly - just select mounting options by vehicle, and go under ford trucks and you'll see various options. I liked the one under the cubby area; some prefer the a-pillar mounts. There are other options also.
Good Luck.

THanks for the info. Can you tell me where the four customer courtesy wires are on the inside?

Mine were under the dash just right of the steering column maybe a foot and back about the same. Should be four wires with black end boots. You may have to look and dig a little bit but they are there. They then go to under the hood drivers side near the top were the wire loom is.
