considering a lfit

Well, I've been resisting the urge to start modding my Ex, but I think I'm falling to the dark side

I've been doing a lot of reading and the general concensus seems to be get an Edge 4.5" lift. That's more than enough lift for me, and being able to run 35" tires is perfect.

Now come the questions:
-how necessary is the adjustable pan rod bar?
-35"x12.5"x16" tires on 16"x10" wheels seem to give me the most options for tires & wheels, correct?
-any suggestions for what tires to get?
-for people running the above tires, how noticeable was the performance hit/mileage hit from the effective gear change
-for the above tires, what RPM's are people turning at 70-75mph

Lots of questions, but thanks to all who reply

Re: considering a lfit

I will try to help with my .02.

Now come the questions:
-how necessary is the adjustable pan rod bar?

It's not. Get the box kit with the lift and it should have a track bar drop bracket. I have the adj bar and bracket.

-35"x12.5"x16" tires on 16"x10" wheels seem to give me the most options for tires & wheels, correct?

Yes, although there are quite a few options for 18's now.

-any suggestions for what tires to get?

I like Nitto's

-for people running the above tires, how noticeable was the performance hit/mileage hit from the effective gear change

When I ran 315/70-17's (34.5") it was noticeable.

-for the above tires, what RPM's are people turning at 70-75mph

I would estimate 1750-1800 rpm at 70.

Re: considering a lfit

I will put in my .02.

The Edge is the best by far. My whole family has lifted SD's. We have had Pro Comp, Fabtech, Superlift, Edge, and Skyjacker. Edge rides the best.

Tires, I like BFG's in the 315/75/16. If your on a budget you can get 315 Dunlop Pathfinders for $550 OTD including road hazard at America's Tire Co. Very nice tire for the $$$.

Mileage, figure 2-3 MPG and a loss in power.

2000 RPM for me = 74 mph with the speedo corrected for tire size.

PS I have a connection on the Dunlops for that price, PM me and I can help you with a price match in your area. One of the Managers at a local store give us a deal cause we have bought several sets.

Re: considering a lift

skygod, I am just curious if Edge is the best why are you running a Superlift?
I am running a 4" Revtek lift on mine and I think it is great for the price. I have no doubt that the Edge may be a little better but for 3X the money it should be. The Revtek installed very easy, the ride is great and it has not sagged at all since I installed it almost a year ago. The Revtek kit also comes with EVERYTHING you need. From shocks to pitman arm it is in the box. No extras to buy..
Anyone want to check out the Revtek kit can check them out HERE.

Thanks for the info. It seems to me like the Edge lift is the obvious choice...now I'm just trying to make a decision on wheels/tires.

I think I may go with Eagle 102 wheels. The price is defintely right (under $400/set on ebay) and they look good to me. As for tires...who makes tires in that size (35x12.5x16 or 315/75/16) in E Load range?
