Has anyone tried to convert their older (like 00-02) oem heated power mirrors to towing heated power mirrors with running light/signals? I have had the new mirrors on for about 6 months but just haven't had the time to hook up the power/heat/lights to them. I was wondering if anyone made an adapter or something from the old style wiring harness to the one that fits on the towing mirrors like i put on. If not, does anyone have any ideas on how to hook these up fairly easily?
I put heated/ power towing mirrors on my truck, a XLT 05 Ex. I was glad that I did not have the lighted turn signal mirrors, as there were NO connectors or wiring for them coming out of the harness in the door. I looked hard. Nowhere. Check the inside of your doors.
I hope the 01's had a full and uncut wiring harness.

[/ QUOTE ] Easy not so sure. You will have to run the wires for the lights and turn signals into the truck and find the proper wires to hook them to at the multifunction and head light switches. I also think the connector on the new mirror is different so some work has to be done there too. I am not sure if the Ford conversion harness is for the lighted and heated mirrors.
I think you should sell me those new lighted heated tow mirrors and not put your self through it. LOL

well ive got the answer for you. ive got a 02 x. i had the heated, turn sinal, power paddle mirrors on my truck. wanted the trailer tow mirrors. so i bought them, the ones with the side marker and turn signals in them. its not that big of a deal to do. took me and a friend a short amount of time to do it. the connector on the door is missing the one wire pin hook up for the new mirrors connector. a friend in parts at my local ford dealership hooked me up with a old connecter and i simply robbed a brass pin from the old connector, and shoved it in my connector on the door where i needed it to match up. then i ran some wire and connected it to the end of the pin i added to my connector and then ran the new wire along with the rest of the wire and tied it in with a hot wire for the signal and turn blinker lights. the wire that you will be looking for is brown in color. there are only two cant remember which one it is the light or dark. when you find it tie it in and you are good to go. really easy to do.

I have an '03 with heated tow mirrors, but I don't have the turn signal lights. Should the harness already be there to easily install the lighted mirrors?

Thanks in advance.
Do a search on this web site, I know there's a very good step by step document on how to do it, replacing the OEM tow mirrors with the updated OEM (starting with 2003.5 and the 6.0 diesel motor) that include the running light/signals. I have an '02 and was going to do this mod but decided not to. I may have the doc saved on my other laptop but don't have time right now to drive home and research.
