Re: Converting glowplug module to relay as trucks

Why The glow plug controller module is a better more reliable system.

Re: Converting glowplug module to relay as trucks

FordMastertech:
i think my module is dead cause my 2,4,6,8 glow plugs are dead.
i am going to check the connector and read the voltage to make sure its the module.
I just like having the relay alot simplar and cheap to replace from international. my module here in canada they want 350 bucks.
also i know the 6 leakers are using these module part #1828565c1

mmsafd:
our X have modules that comunicate with the pcm letting us know each glowplug is working or not. i thinks its californa emission thing.
the 6L use this module thing also.
heres a pic of the two. (left side is trucks and right is our X's)

<pic of both relays

thanks

Re: Converting glowplug module to relay as trucks

mybimota-Unfortunatlly for me your pic did not work.
Thanks for the info. I knew the EX had Cali emissions and have seen some different stuff under the hood. If this module senses a bad glow plug does it set the SES light or anything? JC.

[/ QUOTE ] The early 00 Excursions did come with a relay instead of the controller. I am not sure of the switch over date but both systems monitor the glow plugs and will put the check engine light on if it sees a issue. I still feel the solid state controller is a better system as very few go bad, even on the 6.0s. I can guarantee all the glow plug relays will go bad and sometimes several of them in the life of a truck. Relays are cheaper but not better. The relay for a X is not really that inexpensive for the correct one and a NAPA GPR109 is not the correct one and usually dies pretty quickly on these PSDs.
