Coolant Leak - Can't Find

Hello,
My '05 Excursion (12,000 miles)leaked coolant from the reservoir bottle (looks like it may have been overfilled by the dealer). It dripped onto the Front Diff and blew all over the oil pan, etc. I wiped everything clean and it seemed to be ok for about a week. Got out and looked under the truck again today and coolant was dripping on the front diff. Nothing coming out of the reservoir. Only seems to leak when I go on exteneded trips (20 miles or more).

Can't track it down. The closest I could come is that it is somewhere on the drivers side. Looks like a hose goes to some belt driven pump. I have been reading that it my be the EGR cooler (where is it located). I know, not very good descriptions, but does anyone have any ideas?

It is not overheating and drives fine. Could it be that the reservoir was just to full? Whats the best procedure to get the excess coolant out? Thanks for the help.

Re: Coolant Leak - Can't Find

Just a little more information.

I just checked the reservoir bottle (engine cool)and it is full. The level is at the Min line marked on the on the bottle, which is about an 1" above the little sticker line that the dealership put on. Leaving for vacation and wanted some input if it is safe to drive. Thanks.

Re: Coolant Leak - Can't Find

If it does not appear to be coming from the bottle you will want to check under the water pump, there is a weep hole there that leaks when the pump goes bad. I hope it is not this but if it is coming from the front it is a possibility.
