Well, I spoke with DPPI and they said their turbo-back aluminized exhaust system will not fit on my 2wd X with the Hellwig. So can anyone offer some real world experience on who I should look to for a quality turbo-back system? I looked at Magnaflow and Banks, but their systems are a couple hundred dollars more than the DPPI. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

This is the first I've heard of it too. I just got my new rear shocks delivered yesterday, so now I am ready to install them along with the Hellwig in my garage!
Something doesn't smell right...but then again, I guess a DPPI employee would know. I'll ask around.
I have the Hellwig and just installed the DPPI (cat-back) this weekend. Everything fits perfectly - just follow the DPPI instructions. I love it!

The sway bar is the same part number for the 2 or 4 wheel drive. I think it may have something to do with the overall height of the vehicle and clearance. Maybe Mark Craig can chime in here. He is the one I spoke with at DPPI.

I just put a DPPI exhaust on my Excursion about a week ago, except I don't have a sway bar. Where does the sway bar sit in relationship to the axle, that could be the killer.

It has to be a 2wd vs 4x4 deal. On my 2004 X 4WD the DPPI Turbo Back works fine. The clearance going over the axle is very close. I remember thinking that raising the rear a little would help the clearance alot. My 2004 has the factory sway bar.
Just for the record, you can get a Magnaflow XL series stainless system for your Excursion for the price of an aluminized system. These are a direct replacement, no modification needed to make it fit the X.
I am not sure if there are issues with the Hellwig. JS.
It will eliminate the cat. You can cut off the flange on the front and adapt it back into the system if you wish to retain it. We are working on Magnaflow to give us this option but, it will be a while before it comes about. JS.
