They denied warranty solely on the fact that there was an aftermarket chip on the vehicle.
To this point no one at Ford can give me a technical reason to justify how they can say it was caused by the Banks kit.
DON'T BUY A FORD with this engine, it has problems see their TSB 06-231-2 for details. And don't put a chip in it. It is going to take a long time to make up for the $10,000 repair bill and the $3,000 for the Banks kit.
Keep it stock and make Ford warranty your truck.
Did you try and hide it?
Did you threaten them with a suit or something?
$3000 for the Banks kit? What does it do?
Problem is stock sucks.

I just had mine in two weeks ago for some trans problems and it did have a code for the engine, turned out to be glow plug #8 and they replace the injection control module and the glow plug module not sure why they did both modules then fixed the problem the glow plug, How Typical!
Bad news is they replaced the front seal on the trans they said it was leaking now it is leaving spot of SP where ever you park it so back today for more work on the TS trans.
I am at 99,025 with 100K ESP but I did get the 200K engine warranty at a way reduced cost due to my agravation, Ford did it not the dealer.

There are a variety of issues that have plagued the 6.0.
Ford and Navistar had a long and heated battle over some of the issues.
One thing that concerns me is that some trucks sat for over 2 years near the Oakville truck plant without ever being started once. And I mean lots and lots of trucks. This killed a lot of them.
There were some sort of injector issues as well.
My buddy is a heavy diesel mechanic. He said to stay away from the 03-04 trucks, but by 05 most of the issues were sorted.
He drives a 2001 7.3. I bought a 2000 7.3 based on his advice.
By now I would hope the previous owners of the trucks in all years have suffered the headaches, and that Ford has suffered the warranty issues.
My X has 186,000 on a 12/03 built 7.3....the last one I bet because it has not even burped yet, all it had was a leaky O ring on the HPOP, not a big deal...oh and a CPS...which I have carried an extra for 100,000 and it still works...buy International parts for it too....so the 7.3 has made a joke of every motor since, it weighs like a diesel, sounds like a diesel and runs like a diesel....not a glorified mini van diesel that is meant for soccer moms so they can order thru the drive thru without shutting it off...try that in a 7.3......or better an 02 Cummins... Heck I don't even have a catalytic converter, no one believes it did not come with one....but it didn't because I have put every inch of those 186,000 on myself.

...And it eats rotors. Tried the slotted and drilled ones and now they are making noise and shuttering...
If you are burning up rotors it is the module under the brake pedal. Push it hard: push it when starting, push it several times while stopped in drive - if it ever once pushes back, it needs to be replaced immediately. I know this $1600 later as my perfect condition 2000 X at 60k mi had all original everything until the brake module went. I cooked four rotors, four calipers and of course four sets of pads, and yellowed all four chrome wheels – gave me an excuse for the big brake upgrade. Got the wheels almost clean, but they will never be the same.
I told my friend not to buy the 05. He did anyway. Nineteen trips to the dealer later they allowed him to trade it in with $3K for a 08. So he made out. That comes to a $80 a month lease.
I like the HPCR 5.9 Cummins because it is the loudest and most efficient truck engine ever put on four wheels. So I get the "Firewall" joke.
I think that ford was stupid for not finding a way to get the 7.3 to meet emissions. I bet it would be one hell of an engine with a modern common rail system on it and a vgt turbo.

I agree 100%. The previous owner who bought a 6.4L F-450(job 1 apparently) for her farm, wishes she never sold me the truck. She offers more then I paid it to get it back and I say no. These day's I'm sorry to say that Ford's diesel offering isn't acceptable. If I needed to replace my truck would probably be a Dodge as much as I cringe when I say it.

My experience, for what its worth, with the 6.0 has been excellent. Right at 80,000K on a 2004 built in June of 04. It tows heavy all the time and I am nothing but happy with it. Maybe the exception but when I go to look for another work truck it WILL be a Ford SD with a 6.0. You can find them all over with low miles and the owners asking low $

I would think you are the exception as opposed to the rule
When I went looking for an Excursion or Truck (preferably excursion), I found all sorts of them all over. Whittle out the gas ones and there were fewer. Whittle out the 6.0 and the closest one I could get was 7 hrs away. The salesman was telling me how the 6.0 was better. YUet they had all kinds of 6.0s running around. No 7.3 at all. Why? He said the 7.3 owners were driving them into the ground. Yet in 06, I could get plenty of 6.0s that were 03, 04 or even 05.
Add that to the fact that the International shops like the 6.0 because they made more money on them than the 7.3 vehicles and the fact that it was repeated by Ford techs sold me on the 7.3. Also, the 6.0 was the one that had all kinds of disputes over warranty between Ford and International. Makes me wonder why. Not to mention that the 6.0 is only a few years old while the 7.3, which probably had it's problems has had them ironed out over the years.

That depends on who you ask.
The 6.0 is a great little hotrod diesel powerplant.
You need to know it's heat limitations with a set of gauges.
I think the cooling system could be a bit larger but than again maybe I just live where it's too blasted hot anyway.
Again, each person will give you their opinion, based on their particular situation.
The best advice I can offer is for you to run an Oasis report on a given vin and find out for yourself if that unit had issues to beging with.
