Use number 2 down to about 20 degrees or so. For temps below that use a mixture of about 30% #1 and 70% #2. If you live in a cold-weather climate most stations will offer 'blended' fuel right out of the pump so you don't have to mix them yourself.

In Florida I have seen almost NO stations which post which fuel they are selling. Most stations charge, now, about $2.23 a gallon except one Sunocco which charges $1.99. The other shell stations did post #1 or #2 on the pumps but all the posts seem to have gone by-by.
I think they just chargen #1 high prices even when selling #2.
I don't know any other way to tell the diff. between them. Is there something I can look for to tell?
Thanks for any help.

It is hard to take travel serious when every time you leave home you take an Excursion !
I can't speak for Florida but here in Cali the fuel type is posted on every diesel pump that I have ever seen or used. It is also usually posted on the diesel advertisement sign listing the current fuel prices for that particular station.

I think down here in the south, you won't find #1 at all. Maybe at some larger truck stops. Here in Texas I haven't seen a pump yet that was marked #1 or #2. I assume it's all #2. In Colorado I filled up and it was marked as a Blend. Dang the truck was LOUD running that stuff!!

I know were running a blend though the pump is marked #2 as the engine sure got abit louder after fill so I had to add a little more ****tail to make up the difference for the junk fuel
Plunked down $1.68 per gal, that must be the blended special price.

WOW, maybe that's why some diesel prices seem really low! I never knew there was any blended down here.

Diesel #1 has less cetane(thus less MPG)in it versus the better performing #2,soon as April comes around my MPG takes off and the engine quiets down alot.
