difference between Ultimate Limited X and Limited X? - Diesel Forum

What are the differneces? I have an 03 Limited w/7.3 and I cant imagine any other options on it...am I missing something?

did they offer more than an indash 6-disc changer and rear DVD? how does one know if it is an "Ultimate" or not?

Ultimate had a a few other electronic gadgets like HomeLink, fancy steering wheel with A/C and stereo controls, Memory seats and memory adjustable pedals and you could get 2nd row capt. chairs. AV systems available were the same on either.

It's not a lot but that seems to be about it. Very similar to the Eddie Bauer Premier Group in '04 but that includes a few more things which matched the Limited for '04. In '04 the Limited Ultimate became just the Limited so it had everything. Prior to that, appearently the Limited was, well, slightly limited on options. hmmmmm, well, as far as all that goes, mine has the memory seats, fancy steering wheel controls w/AC and stereo controls, and adjustable pedals.....dont have the second row captains chairs but all of the other stuff and no where does it say its an "ultimate". Do I have an ultimate limited? how can one tell?

You have the Ultimate. I have one too and there are no badges or other regalia indicating this trim level. It was probably on the window sticker.

Ultimate Limited had the 2 tone seats to -- i think not till the eddy did that happen

my 03 did not have the 2 tone seats though.....I think the bumpers are painted an all LU, mine is a rust POS from stone chips, 160,000 miles and winters. I hate it but keep painting it. The LU has every option on it, all I don't have is the captians chairs and I would not have wanted those. There is really nothing else.

I still have the original window sticker($55,000+ I believe). I will check it again closely and see.

The original window sticker identifies it as a Limited or Limited Ultimate. Say's so on mine that I have on file, upper right hand corner.

The two tone seats were on the "monochrome package". It came with painted bumpers and grille as well. It was the Eddie Bauer interior before Ford finally released the "Eddie Bauer" Excursion.

Rear roof mounted DVD player, indash 6 cd, rear captain chairs, tow mirrors, 3.73 limited slip, skid plate, were all options.

Have a Black monochrome Unlimited with everything under the sun except rear captain's chairs. I like the Homelink feature, if you have it and never really checked it out, you're missing out. Wife's daily driver.Flawless in everyway, showroom condition, down to original Firestone Steeltex tires with 117k and 3/32" tread left on them. Ran like new, no leaks, no repairs at all until last week. Check out the post on 6.0 forums.

Didn't those Steeltex tires get recalled a couple years ago, mine did. I got five new BF Goodriches out of that deal from Les Schwab in Ca.

Mine has the DVD, the limited slip front and rear, climate control, all mono color but I did not see the 2 tone seats, I would have done that too, I picked every option they could stuff in it. I use the homelink for home and a cottage, I have used it since it rolled off the carrier. I bet I have the last 7.3 built, my born date was 12/ 2003 and I had to beg for it, all they wanted was the 6.0 and I told them if they value their life they will not subject me to the new motor blues...and I was right. I have 162,000 now and have had no major problems. It runs so well and is still tight, it feels like it will go forever.

I was told the Steeltex tires were recalled, but not the load range 'E' ones. I got the recall letter, and took it to the dealer, where I got the news. I'm glad that they didn't replace them, still rolling along with 'em. I'd gladly buy a new set of Steeltex if I could find them.
It's tragic that the tires outlasted the engine.

I can't speak for the '03, the Eddie Bauer model came out that year.

I'm wrong about the two-tone interior being included in the monochrome package back in '02 and I apologize. I looked at my window sticker and it also has "Limited Premier Group" listed. I looked on line and found some more info.

The link also shows the differences between the 3 XLT and 2 Limited models including some of the options.

The unique woodgrain is rosewood color, much darker like the Eddie Bauer.

If you purchased the Monochrome Package too, sounds like the two-tone exterior of the Limited Premier Group is replaced.
