That really bites! I thought mine was bad going up this year to $91. Is that because you drive a bohemouth or is a regular car that high as well? I know Texas does it by vehicle wieght.
We were paying like 850 a year in Sacramento
I don't miss the politician set DMV fees in California at all! In Texas we paid $74 last year and $74 this year for the Excursion plus the annual $12 state safety inspection
So what we saved in registration just went to insurance anyhows
Wait till the California VLF triples soon there
It's great to live in Texas I tell ya

As of July 1 thats when VLF did triple, so $706.00 is at the tripled rate thank goodness. Any vehicle, truck or car license fee is determined on the worth not the type (I believe??) here in CA. Insurance on the other hand depends on were you live, your age, driving record, what you drive,etc.. Same as probably anywere. I'm fortysomthing with a CLEAN record (for many years), and ins. is about a grand a year .

Last week wifes plates ran $25.00 here in GA. Now the Ad Valourm was $528.00 making a grand total of $553.00 !
I have an F350 and pay $120 for reg fees in MN. No other fees or taxes except a $4 or $5 handling fee.
Now, in MN F350s are licensed as commercial/business type vehicles even if personally owned. The fee for an X would probably be somewhat more since it would still registered as a passenger vehicle.
People *****ed and moaned for years about high car registration fees in Minnesota, and they finally lowered them a few years back. But, they were never anywhere close to California and Georgia.

A little more than a year after we escaped under the wire from Cali,we're heading back on Thursday for part of a two week roadtrip vacation of the Southwest.
No reason at all anyone should pay out hundreds of dollars just for a yearly sticker on the license plate whether you drive 100 or 20k miles a year.
As far as I know from experience California is the highest for registration fees.
