Found the post! It was from 2000 by jbkrab.

AIC install on Excursion

Someone mentioned a while back to use a spade connector to slide into the back of the OBDII plug on the correct wires instead of tapping/splicing them. I wish I had thought of that. That will make for a nice clean install with no concerns about un-twisting the data wires.
