Hmmmm, not sure, but I would suspect it does. Since the tank its self is nothing more than a plastic box, and the surrounding steal is for support and protection.

Does the rock sheild support the gas tank in the Excursion?
My new bumper is supposed to be here tommorow and I need to remove my hitch so the question has come up,Does the rock sheild support the gas tank in the Excursion? I don't want that full tank of fuel to come nad hit me in the head, so I am inquiring before I do any damage.

There's enough air between my tank and the skid plate for little rocks to accumulate up there after I go 4-wheeling. I'd be surprised if the tank sits on the skid plate. Very surprised.

Yes, the guard does support the tank. I had to lower mine to cut clearance for my remote resevoir shocks, and when I removed the bolts, the guard and the tank comes down.
