door lock behavior...

I know there are certain combos that allow you to disable stuff like the "seat belt reminder" indicator... (I think it's something like 'turn off and on your ignition about a zillion times while juggling 5 balls' or something like that).

Does anyone know something like that that will cause the X to automatically UNLOCK the doors when you put it in park?

Typically, when picking up or dropping something off, I turn off the engine, but leave the keys in the ignition.... then I get out, walk around to the back... realize that everything else is still LOCKED... walk around to the front, unlock all the doors... then walk around to the back.

You would think I would remember after doing this 10000 times... but, sadly.... no.

Re: door lock behavior...

You can disable the autolock feature all together. The owner's manual describes how to do it. Its pretty easy.

I recently had the vehicle security module (VSM)in my truck replaced and as a result the autolock feature was turned back on. I quickly realized why I hate it so much. Like you said every morning when I got out of my truck and went to open the back door to get my laptop off the rear set I had to pull my keys back out to open all of the doors. Drove me nuts. According to my wife our Explorer unlocks all of the doors when she turns the ignition off. I never verified that but I don't ever remember having to unlock all of her doors when I use the Explorer for work.

With the autolock feature enabled only the driver's side door is automatically unlocked on the Excursion, not all of them. I could live with the autolock feature if it would unlock all of the doors. But I don't think that its an option for the Excursions.

Re: door lock behavior...

My 2000 F250 DOES unlock all of the doors when you turn the ignition off when in Park.
iirc, it wasn't a feature of the Viper remote start/alarm system, but a feature of the Lariat autolock package (it automatically locks all of the doors when you are in reverse...most of the time).
