Door Locks.....Again

The last time this happened it cost me over $400....and that was not a dealer. The dim bulb shorted my entire PATS system so I needed that computer, a reflash for the key and a door actuator. The actuator was only $54. Now I at the same spot again, this time I am buying the actuator and doing it myself, if it works i am replacing every one in the truck. It was the pass side rear door, how can I pin point the door? I would hate to have to try all 3 left, maybe it was the same one again. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Re: Door Locks.....Again

The dim bulb is the one behind the dash board, it is hard to see since it is dim and it sometimes goes bright and shorts out something. Or in some cases the person who is performing the work does not have full wattage to the brain, otherwise known as nincon-poop. The later was my case.

Re: Door Locks.....Again

I had my stereo shop install "spal" aftermarket actuators in all 5 doors of mine. They charged me $350 for the install with a lifetime warranty. I have had one go out in the rear hatch so far. They changed it no ? asked. They are much faster than the Ford ones and are electromagnetic.

Re: Door Locks.....Again

That is interesting, I tried NAPA for aftermarket ones and they said they are not made. Was this part of a security system? Mine are fine now, it was a shorted wire, but it could happen again.

Re: Door Locks.....Again

It was a wire in the door that rubbed to bare wire and was shorting out. The people who installed my stereo cut the boot to run a speaker wire and never fixed it. They guarentee their work for life so they are paying me the $446 I paid the first time. This time was free. To be fair the guy who did the job should have seen this the first time, he found it in 5 seconds this time. He said he inspected the wires. Oh well all ends well and I don't have an electrical gremlin, which is worth the money.
