drove a 6.0 X tonight

I just drove a 6.0 Excursion tonight at the local dealer. Very loaded and very nice. Powerful, Quiet, That motor is something.
The other thing that rocked me was the price. $48,750 was the sticker and they told me no rebates and no discounts.
My new V10 Econoline which is twice the size only cost $25,600 new 2002.
I don't get it. But I will be interested to see if they can get that thing to be quiet in the vans. It was definately in the same performance arena as my V10 out the hole.
